The subject for my photo essay is the sunsets that take place at my house every evening. I selected this place because my home defines who I am as a person and where I grew up. My home is significant because it has shaped me into who I am today. The concept I am trying to portray is how things can change over a period of time, such as the sunset and the colors. The images captured the story of my essay because it shows how something can change within the seasons and how the water, colors, and dock change. I ordered my photos in a way that it shows the progression from winter to summer and how the sun and environment change. The beginning of the series has ice with the dock up while the last picture has swans and a boat showing the warm and life of the summer. The 7th photo is the strongest in the series because of the vivid bright colors and the reflection that is in the water due to the sky. It is also strong because of the silhouette created by the dock. The viewpoint and angle of this photo was straight on while standing on the dock. This photo was edited by cropping a piece of the bottom of the photo out. Then I changed the brightness of the image down one notch to make the silhouette more defined.
